Are you searching for a great website that you can share with your entire family? Look no further as MotherEarthNews.com is a great place to visit. Spending quality time with your kids does not necessarily rule out using the internet. Parents can incorporate the internet in family time and insure that your kids are using this great tool for effective learning and development.

Using a great mixture of articles and pictures, this site is very readable and offers unique perspectives on everyday life. This is especially interesting to children who have an eye for the world around them.

In the most recent article, Mother Earth News explores the world of backyard animals. Raising small livestock from babes to adults is no more difficult than cultivating a garden, and the interaction and learning potential is greatly enhanced. Choosing the right livestock is the all-important aspect of this endeavor.

Economics always enter the decision making process, but other factors must also be considered. The cost of the initial investment in animals, the cost of food, the amount of maintenance required, the amount of land that must be dedicated to your choice all are factors that must be considered. The two animals most recommended are rabbits and chickens. The most popular backyard animal, the cow, was not considered. The cow would require a very large backyard. They need a lot of room to graze. The amount of manure a cow produces can be a problem in and of itself. Fencing, veterinarian needs, and final butchering are concerns that must be considered.

Rabbits are clean and prolific and take up a small space. They breed so rapidly that they provide a good return on investment. One breeding pair can eventually supply almost 80 lbs. of meat in one year alone.

Chickens provide both meat and eggs and they will produce about one pound of meat for every two pounds of feed. They are foragers and will eat anything from bugs to left-overs.

This site also discusses many other farm and earth related issues that are sure to be interesting and informative for the entire family.

Searching the internet for great websites can be addicting. There are so many topics and so much information being disseminated. This blog is about cool websites and information that tweeks the interest of the author.

The age-old question of extra-terrestrial life and its very existence is truly a phenomenon that has piqued the interest of people from all over the globe. From the average citizen to the most advanced astrophysicist, this has become a timeless question. You will absolutely not get a definitive answer from reading this blog. However, there are answers awaiting us. One such place to find those answers is astrobiology.nasa.gov.

This is truly a website that offers a treasure chest of great information on all things referencing outer space. This site is regularly updated and it is easy to navigate to past posts for your research pleasure. The topics are varied and include articles and posts about Water Earths in the Near-Infrared, RNA Origins in Sheets of Clay, Baby Fat on a Young Sun, An Alternative Path for the Evolution of Nitrogen Fixation, and the author’s favorite, A New Pathway to Life’s Origin.

This is truly a thinking man’s website offering divergent opinions on a multitude of space related questions. One of the best features of this website is that it offers its readers a chance to interact via web chat with a real live astrobiologist. The answers are shared so that all the readers can learn and enjoy the interaction.

This site explains the function of an astrobiologist and the roadmap one must take to enter this field of endeavor. There are references to past space missions and the archives of this site is open to all. It explains the inter-relationship between astrophysicists and astobiologists. This site even hosts seminars and webinars for those interested. One of the most fascinating aspects of this internet site is the opportunities for the reader to be interactive. Listings of events, publications, and additional research capabilities are readily available.

The inclusion of focus groups on particular areas of interest or study is very helpful.
Is there life elsewhere in the universe? No answers here, only more questions to be researched through great sites like astrobiology.nasa.gov.

I found a great website that I would like to share. Libraries Matter is a blog that discusses how important libraries are to the local communities and society as a whole. I tend to agree that we need to continue to support our public libraries. This website has several great reasons why we should do our part to make sure our great library systems stay intact for future generations. Please let me know your thoughts!
